Some schools have been in session for a few weeks, some only a week and some are just starting. No matter when the Fall school semester began, the excitement of back to school is still in the air. Teachers and students are getting used to being back in the classroom and discussions can be limited because students don’t know each other yet. To help your students get to know each other, we created some helpful ways to engage your students and inspire some creativity at the beginning of the school year.
One proven topic that breaks the ice with students and gets them excited is the Super Powers Icebreaker.
Title: If you could have any super power, which would you choose and why?
Type: Multiple Choice (Post the following choices or make up your own.)
- The ability to read minds
- The ability to stop time
- The ability to fly
- The ability to become invisible
- The ability to heal people
- The ability to be invincible
This is a great icebreaker for both kids and adults all around the world because the superhero concept is universal. Every kid has wished they had the ability to fly, and every high schooler has wished for the ability to become invisible. The good vs. bad theme runs throughout history and literature and is the perfect concept for sparking creativity in anyone. (Personally, I would love the ability to stop time like Evie Garland in Out of This World).
